Country Garden with Natural Swimming Pool
Natural Swimming Pool: Set within a wild and meadowy country garden
Set within the wooded slopes of Abbots Leigh on the western edge of Bristol, this garden is shaped by a close relationship between landform, planting, and architecture. Responding to the site’s distinctive topography and long views across the Severn Valley, the design blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape while remaining carefully composed.
Structured, architectural elements are balanced with softer, naturalistic planting, creating a gentle dialogue between formality and the woodland edge. A natural swimming pond sits at the heart of the garden, reflecting shifting light, sky, and surrounding trees while supporting the client’s strong focus on health, wellbeing, and daily immersion in nature.
Generous drifts of grasses and native-leaning planting define calm, well-scaled spaces that encourage movement and pause. Views are deliberately framed and held open, allowing the garden to feel expansive, restorative, and deeply connected to its West Country setting.
